Business phone service / Amsterdam, Netherlands
Business phone service for Amsterdam companies with teams across Europe.
Amsterdam is a base for logistics, technology and trading companies that serve all of Europe, often with staff who work in English and customers who call in Dutch, German and French. Texwan sets up hosted phone systems remotely, routes by language and country, and ships CE-marked phones ready to plug in.
Dutch numbers are added where available and where the numbering plan allows, and existing numbers are ported where they can be. We work remotely and do not claim a Dutch office.

Threat Briefing
Under the Dutch numbering plan, a geographic number such as 020 is for users with a network connection point, residence or place of business in that area. The plan also defines location-independent 085 and 088 numbers, which suit companies without a fixed local office. (Nummerplan)
ACM explains that business customers can keep their numbers when switching provider, with geographic numbers staying tied to their area code. (ACM)
02 / Risk and Compliance Matrix
Risk and Compliance Matrix
| Risk | Control or compliance mapping | Business impact |
|---|---|---|
| Asking for 020 numbers without a connection or establishment in Amsterdam | Dutch numbering plan (Nummerplan) | A number that cannot be assigned |
| Emergency calling not tested from softphones | EECC Article 109, 112 access (EU) | A user cannot reach 112 with location |
| Non-EU radio phones shipped in | Radio Equipment Directive (European Commission) | Cordless or Wi-Fi phones that should not be used |

04 / Vendor-Neutral Verification Checklist
Vendor-Neutral Verification Checklist
Three checks you can run yourself, with or without us.
- Write down which numbers are geographic and which are location independent.
- Ask a softphone user how they would call 112.
- Check the label on a cordless handset for CE marking.
Legacy and odd setups
Old phone systems in Amsterdam? We can work with them.
Dutch offices still have older Avaya, Mitel and Siemens systems on ISDN. We can move them to SIP through a gateway and migrate users to hosted service in stages.
Country notes
Phone rules and practicalities in the Netherlands
| Topic | What to know |
|---|---|
| Emergency calls | 112 is the emergency number across the EU and must be free, with caller location passed to emergency services. (EECC; European Commission) |
| Local numbers | Under the Dutch numbering plan, a geographic number such as 020 is for users whose network connection point, residence or place of business is in that area code. Location-independent ranges such as 085 and 088 are also defined. (Nummerplan) |
| Keeping your numbers | Business numbers can be kept when changing provider; geographic numbers stay tied to their area code. (ACM) |
| Hardware | CE marking is required, and DECT and Wi-Fi phones fall under the Radio Equipment Directive. (European Commission) DECT handsets are ordered in the European band. (ETSI) |
| Power and plugs | Dutch mains is 230 V with Type F plugs. Power over Ethernet phones avoid the plug question. |
| Shipping | Hardware ships from the United States. Import duties, taxes and customs fees may apply on arrival and depend on the shipping terms we agree in the quote. |
This is general information, not legal advice. Rules change, so we confirm current requirements for your setup before quoting.
How it works
Remote setup, phones shipped ready to use
- Review. Send us your current bill or a list of numbers, users and sites. We map extensions, call flows and anything unusual.
- Build. We build the system for your country’s dial plan and emergency numbers and program each phone (Yealink, Yeastar, Grandstream or Sangoma), choosing models that suit local power, plugs and radio rules.
- Ship. Phones ship from the US pre-configured and labeled. Import duties, taxes and customs clearance depend on the destination and the shipping terms, which we agree in the quote.
- Port and support. Existing numbers are ported only where the country’s rules and the carriers allow, on a date you approve. Support is remote, with every request answered within one business day.
