Founded in Texas in 2007 / serving businesses worldwide
Phones, internet and networks for businesses with more than one location.
From the team that has run business voice since the ISDN days. We put every site on hosted phones and a managed network, bring older Nortel, Mitel, PRI and 3CX setups along without losing your numbers, and answer every request within one business day.

What are you running today?
Pick the closest match. Each option opens the quote form with the right topic already selected.
A Nortel or Mitel system
Keep it running, connect it to SIP, or plan the replacement.
PRI, T1 or ISDN lines
Move the lines to SIP trunks or hosted voice without changing numbers.
3CX
Move off 3CX to a hosted system we run, with your numbers and call flows.
Copper lines for alarms, fax or elevators
Replace lines the carrier is retiring, including the ones that are not phones.
Several locations on different setups
One standard for phones and networks across every site.
Something else, or not sure
Tell us what is on the wall and we will work out the options with you.

What we do
Phones, networks and the move between old and new
Business phones
Hosted phones and SIP trunks, numbers ported, call flows built to your hours and emergency calling set up for every site. Phones from Yealink, Yeastar, Grandstream and Sangoma arrive pre-configured.
Legacy voice
Nortel and Mitel support, a way off 3CX, PRI and ISDN to SIP, and replacement of retiring copper lines, including alarms and elevator phones.
Networks
Firewalls, switching, Wi-Fi, structured cabling, failover and SD-WAN, with one standard build for every location.
Business internet (coming soon)
Internet service is coming soon via a partner. Until it launches we manage the circuits you already have and design the failover around them.
Managed IT add-on
Computers and servers monitored and patched in our Ares RMM platform, alongside the phones and network.
Plans per site
Voice, Connect and Multi-Site plans that stack, plus a Legacy Bridge project for older systems. Quoted per location, no surprises in the scope.
How a cutover works
Six stages, written down before we start
- Inventory. Bill, contract and a walk-through of each site, on site or by video
- Design. A written design you sign off
- Build and pre-configure. Phones and network gear arrive ready to plug in
- Port scheduling. A confirmed port date and a cutover window you approve
- Cutover. Signed-off test results for each site
- Monitor and hand over. Documentation and portal access
Owner-led since 2007
Started in Texas, still run by the person who started it
Texwan started in Texas in 2007, when business phones meant ISDN lines and Nortel and Mitel cabinets in the back room. Andrew Trainum founded it and still leads it. The work has moved with the technology, through PRI and SIP trunks, structured cabling, hosted voice, networks and managed IT, and so has the client list, which now reaches well beyond Texas.
- The person who scopes the job answers for it. There is no hand-off from a sales team to strangers.
- We have seen the old systems. That is why we can keep a Nortel running or move a PRI without losing a number.
- No vendor quotas. We recommend the option that fits, including one that is not ours.
Client portal
What you see after you sign in
Every client gets a Texwan portal at portal.texwan.com. We are not showing screenshots here because they would mean showing a real client’s data, so here is what is in it:
- Requests. Open a support request, follow its status and see the reply history.
- Sites and devices. Each location with its firewall, switches, access points and phones, and their current status.
- Phones. Extensions, numbers, business hours and the emergency address registered for each site.
- Alerts and reports. Monitoring alerts, plus monthly reports for each site and for the whole business.
- Access by site. A regional manager can be limited to the sites they run.
Already a client? Sign in to the portal.
Emergency calling
Set up correctly for every site and country
Every phone we set up can reach the local emergency number directly, with a validated address for its site. In the US we configure multi-line systems for Kari’s Law direct dialing and notification and for RAY BAUM’S Act dispatchable location. In the UK we plan battery backup for anyone who relies on a landline, in line with Ofcom guidance for digital lines in a power cut. Elsewhere we follow the local regulator’s rules for that country’s emergency number.
Switching
Questions people ask before they switch
Do we keep our phone numbers?
In most cases, yes. Numbers move by porting, which the losing carrier processes on a date we schedule with you. The FCC and other regulators set the porting rules; some number types, such as certain toll-free or non-geographic numbers outside the US, have their own processes. We check every number on your bill before quoting.
Will the phones go down during the switch?
The cutover is planned for a window you choose. Old and new systems run side by side until the port completes, and we test inbound, outbound and emergency calling before the old service is cancelled.
Can we reuse our existing desk phones?
Often. Many SIP desk phones from mainstream makers can be reprovisioned. Proprietary digital handsets from older systems such as Nortel or Mitel usually cannot be used with hosted voice, but they can stay in service behind a SIP gateway while you plan.
What happens to our current contract?
Send us the contract or the last bill. We note the end date and any early termination terms so you can choose a cutover date that avoids overlap or penalties where possible.
Do you handle emergency calling?
Yes. We set up direct dialing of the local emergency number and register a validated address and location detail for each site or phone, as the rules in that country require. In the US that means Kari’s Law and RAY BAUM’S Act for multi-line systems.
Who do we call after the switch?
Us. Requests come in through the client portal, email or phone and are answered within one business day.
Why this matters now
The threat picture for small and midsize businesses
- Vulnerability exploitation is now the most common way breaches start, at 31% of breaches, overtaking stolen credentials for the first time in the report’s 19 years. (Verizon 2026 DBIR)
- About 96% of ransomware victims with a known organization size were small and midsize businesses. (Verizon 2026 DBIR)
- The FBI received 1,008,597 internet crime complaints in 2025 with $20.877 billion in reported losses, including $3.05 billion from business email compromise. (FBI IC3 2025 Internet Crime Report)
- 57% of operators said their most recent major outage cost more than $100,000; network issues are the largest share of IT service outages. (Uptime Institute Annual Outage Analysis 2026)
How we work
Operating model
- Every managed device reports into Ares RMM, the managed platform from Dark Edge Consulting, for patch status, monitoring, backup verification and alerting.
- Controls are mapped to the NIST Cybersecurity Framework 2.0 functions (Govern, Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond, Recover), so you can see what is covered and what is not.
- You receive written monthly reports: patch compliance, backup restore tests, open risks and changes made.
- Vendor-neutral recommendations. Each service page ends with a checklist you can use to verify any provider, including us.
