Business phone service / Dublin, Ireland
Business phone service for Dublin offices that serve customers across Europe.
Dublin is a European base for many technology, finance and services companies, which means one office answering calls from customers in several countries. Texwan sets up hosted phone systems remotely, with menus and queues by language and country, recordings handled under GDPR and phones programmed before they ship.
Irish numbers are added where available and where ComReg’s rules allow, and existing numbers are ported where they can be. We work remotely and do not claim an Irish office.

ComReg’s numbering conditions assign a geographic number only to an end user whose premises are physically within that number’s area, so a Dublin 01 number needs a Dublin premises. (ComReg)
The Data Protection Commission is Ireland’s GDPR supervisory authority. Call recordings are personal data, so each one needs a purpose and a retention period. (DPC)
02 / Risk and Compliance Matrix
Risk and Compliance Matrix
| Risk | Control or compliance mapping | Business impact |
|---|---|---|
| Requesting local numbers in countries where you have no premises | ComReg numbering conditions (ComReg); EECC (EU) | Numbers that cannot be assigned or may be withdrawn |
| VoIP limits not explained to staff | ComReg VoIP framework (ComReg) | Staff assume emergency calls always work |
| Recordings kept with no purpose or end date | GDPR, supervised by the DPC (DPC) | Personal data held without a lawful basis |

Architecture and Remediation Directives
- Check the premises rules for every country where you want a local number before ordering it.
- Tell every user, in writing, what their phone can and cannot do in an outage or for emergency calls.
- Set recording retention by queue and document the purpose.
- Route callers by language and country from one main menu.
04 / Vendor-Neutral Verification Checklist
Vendor-Neutral Verification Checklist
Three checks you can run yourself, with or without us.
- List the countries where you want local numbers and note whether you have premises in each.
- Ask a user how they would call 112 if the office internet failed.
- Find the retention setting on your recorded queues.
Legacy and odd setups
Old phone systems in Dublin? We can work with them.
Dublin offices still have older Avaya, Mitel and Siemens systems, some on ISDN. A gateway can keep them on SIP while users move to hosted service in stages.
Country notes
Phone rules and practicalities in Ireland
| Topic | What to know |
|---|---|
| Emergency calls | 112 and 999 are free and are answered by the Emergency Call Answering Service. (112.ie) EU rules require caller location to be passed with emergency calls. (EECC) |
| VoIP disclosures | ComReg’s VoIP framework requires providers to tell customers about limits on emergency calling and on service during power or broadband failures. (ComReg) |
| Local numbers | ComReg only assigns a geographic number to an end user whose premises are physically within that number’s numbering area. Dublin 01 numbers are therefore for premises in the Dublin area, where available. (ComReg) |
| Keeping your numbers | Geographic numbers can be retained when changing provider at the same location, and non-geographic numbers at any location. (ComReg) |
| Hardware | Equipment must carry CE marking, and radio devices such as DECT and Wi-Fi phones fall under the Radio Equipment Directive. (European Commission) DECT handsets are ordered in the European band. |
| Power and plugs | Irish mains is 230 V with Type G plugs, the same as the UK. Power over Ethernet phones avoid the plug question. |
| Shipping | Hardware ships from the United States. Import duties, taxes and customs fees may apply on arrival and depend on the shipping terms we agree in the quote. |
This is general information, not legal advice. Rules change, so we confirm current requirements for your setup before quoting.
How it works
Remote setup, phones shipped ready to use
- Review. Send us your current bill or a list of numbers, users and sites. We map extensions, call flows and anything unusual.
- Build. We build the system for your country’s dial plan and emergency numbers and program each phone (Yealink, Yeastar, Grandstream or Sangoma), choosing models that suit local power, plugs and radio rules.
- Ship. Phones ship from the US pre-configured and labeled. Import duties, taxes and customs clearance depend on the destination and the shipping terms, which we agree in the quote.
- Port and support. Existing numbers are ported only where the country’s rules and the carriers allow, on a date you approve. Support is remote, with every request answered within one business day.
